Southern
Alpacas Farm visitors are welcome,
by prior appointment, for an "alpaca picnic". Expect an amusing and informative
talk about the alpacas, hands on feel of the soft alpaca fibre and fashion, a cuppa and a
cake, and the opportunity to meet and feed the alpacas and purchase momentoes to take
home.
Our alpaca gallery is a great facility for
people coming to visit the farm to see and learn about alpacas. With its displays of
alpaca fibre and products, seating for 50 and a public address system, it is ideal for
group visits.
Visitor-friendly features of our facilities are:

A Cracker of a Nut
WalnutsSet among 17 acres of walnut
orchard is a walnut cracking and processing facility. Jenny and Malcolm Lawrence produce
premium New Zealand walnut products from walnut paste to walnut oil, pickled walnuts and
walnut chutney. See an organic orchard approaching maturity, cracking machines in action
and, in season, the trickle of oil as it is cold pressed.

The
Kitchen Garden An avenue of
sweet chestnuts forms the entrance to this property, where a variety of gourmet vegetables
and garnishes for the restaurant trade are grown.Chinese artichokes, fennel bulbs,
celeriac, salsify, scorzonera and white alpine strawberries are among the product grown.
For those interested in contemporary architecture, the house and landscaped grounds can
also be viewed.
